Latest Doctor's Appointment

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing great over this Easter weekend. Stacy had her monthly checkup this morning and things are really starting to get exciting here in week 17. First off, Stacy is really starting to show (see new pics on the right). It's very exciting to think that we're about halfway there! Although she really doesn't want me to put this in here, she gained 6 pounds since last month's checkup. She is right on track for weight and I really think she likes to rub her belly now.....

Our baby's heartbeat is great - 140 beats per minute. We are off for Hawaii in a few days and when we return, we will go in for an ultrasound and anatomy scan. This is when they perform many, many measurements (spine, arm lengths, leg lengths, brain and skull size, etc.) to make sure our little guy is up to par. It should be very exciting to see the pictures, I'll make sure I post them when we get back. Of course, we will hopefully have a good technician that can avoid the big question of boy or girl.....

Speaking of which, thanks for the votes. I do agree with you, boy all the way! For those of you who don't know my mother very well, she has this unreal and highly scientific ability to determine the sex of soon-to-be-babies by looking at their mother's rear end. We have sent some pictures to Judge Judy and her preliminary verdict is a girl. Obviously we need a little more time for Stacy to develop so that my mother can clearly that it's a boy. =)

Finally, after our appointment, we went to visit a potential day care facility in our neighborhood. It's a small place that is about 6 blocks from our house. They take care of 8 infants and 10 toddlers maximum, and the neat thing about it is that it is a Co-op. Each family is responsible for volunteering 10 hours a month to help during busy times, clean up a bit, or even work on the board of directors. It gives parents the opportunity to interact with other families. They have a waiting list for most of this summer, but fortunately we won't be needing it until early 2010.

Well, enough for now, I hope this update finds everyone doing well. We will be staying in a tree in Volcano if you need us.....
